BAREFEET presents 'FLOAT'-On September 3rd and 4th

It is the time of year once more: the holidays are almost over, energies are being re-fuelled and Barefeet are up to their usual magic... making theatre that would make stones weep with laughter.  On September 3rd and 4th at 19.00 hrs at the Lusaka Playhouse

Float

BAREFEET presents 'FLOAT'

Barefeet Theatre travel to the heart of traditional myths, breathing life into cultural and historic debates, using physical theatre, song, dance, acrobatics and magic.

In collaboration with UBOM! Youth Co. Zambian and South African traditions and artistry combine in a Cultural Explosion of ideas to make this piece 'Float'.

Float has already been performed at the Grahamstown Festival where it enjoyed enormous success. What goes up must come down... and what goes South must come home to Zambia... and Barefeet Theatre brings this slippery floating piece to life next month.

Audiences should expect to be soaked in culture, saturated in history and drowned in laughter by this water tale.

Tickets are K50,000.

Audiences will be left in amused amazement at the usual Barefeet spectacle: singing, dancing, comedy, acrobatics and fun. We are looking forward to seeing each and everyone of you and on behalf of the Barefeet team, would like to once again thank you for your continued support. Please promote and publicise within your networks and contacts.

Just remember that Barefeet is ‘Floating’ towards you in September!
PLEASE FOWARD THIS TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE. TICKETS CAN BE BOUGHT IN ADVANCE

Munda Wanga - Lusaka Zambia

MWfrontpage

Munda Wanga is an Environmental Park that is comprised of an
Environmental Education Centre, a Wildlife Park and Sanctuary and a Botanical Garden. The Munda Wanga Trust has been running the Environmental Park since 1998. It has been rebuild from a run down zoo to a modern facility that provides Environmental Education to the young and old.

The Environmental Education Centre hosts over 35,000 children and teachers every year, that come to learn about the environment, the wildlife and plant life that is so abundant in different parts of Zambia. They come to learn about the threats, the ways to conserve and the ways to benefit from the natural resources that are available in our environment. But also how to use these resources without depleting them, to use them in a sustainable way, to ensure that our children's, children can also enjoy the same benefits that mother nature has to offer us.

The Wildlife Park and Sanctuary holds a collection of more than 40 different species of animals. Most of these animals are endemic to Zambia (this means that they naturally occur in the wild). Some species are exotic and are here to show the visitors what other animals are around on this planet.
Besides keeping animals as ambassadors of their species, the Sanctuary houses a large number of animals that are brought in from the illegal pet trade, or that were found injured due to poaching or other ways of animal-human conflict. Most animals are rehabilitated and are than released back to the wild in an area where they will not be harassed by humans and where they can live a life in the wild.

The Botanical Gardens house over 1000 species of plants, some of them are still here since the day that they were brought in by Ralph Sander. The ratio between exotic and endemic species in the botanical gardens is 50-50.
Through lessons and activities, children are brought in touch with botany and are given some appreciation for the plants that grow around us. Different garden styles take the visitor past various corners of the world and inspire them to look after their own environment around their house.
Apart from botany there is also emphasis on the interaction between humans and plants. We use plants for various purposes and rely on them for our food and medicine. Every weekend special tours are organized to teach visitors more on the use of plants in our daily live.

Desperate Love - Tsungai Garise

Desperate Love

Come watch this modern play where women and men get to discover themselves.

This excellent play will share women and men’s points of view in the search and understanding of love. The story is universal and relates to different cultures. This play is not to miss! Already staged at the Avignon Festival in France and at the Parisian Theatre La Grande Comedie, Desperate Love is now being performed in English at the Alliance Francaise. Come winess a new breed of Zambian talent taking theatre to another level!

Actors and director

It has been quite exceptional that this group of performers and their director have managed to perform drama plays since March, when they participated in the Francophonie week with their play entitled LA REPETITION, at the Alliance Francaise of Lusaka. They later performed the play THE REHEARSAL in April and May, and now they are at it again, with a new exciting production entitled DESPERATE LOVE which opens on Tuesday 19 May at the Alliance Francaise, at 19hr.

The actors skills have progressed immensely and they now need a good Zambian crowd. Those who have witnessed their last performances say that the actors’ level of acting is very high, and that their plays are very entertaining, original and excellent.

The director, Tsungaï Garisé is a Zimbabwean theatre and film writer, director and producer who is dedicated in the development of theatre and film skills in Africa. He works between France and African. Tsungai is also an acting coach and gives professional acting training classes at the Alliance Francaise to contribute in the development of acting, theatre and film in Zambia.
